Palliative Care
- The misconception is that palliative medicine is that type of care offered when there is no other care available and the patient’s death is managed. This is not so!
Palliative Medicine:
- Includes the holistic symptomatic care of patients with life-threatening illnesses (e.g.: heart failure, cancers, and motor neuron disease) from EARLY in the diagnosis.
- Includes End-of-Life care where required but not limited to End-of-Life care.
- Includes hospice care
- Aims to provide hope by improving the quality of life of the patients and their families.
- Works together with Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, various other therapies, and other health care workers.
